Athletic Director Cary Groth Shuns NCAA Values, Rules
At a recent Board of Regents meeting for the Nevada System of Higher Education, University of Nevada, Reno President Milton Glick made the following statement:
The NCAA could enforce the relocation of coaches, but they do not enforce the movement of athletic directors.
What Glick is saying is that the NCAA could require an institution to remove a coach who was caught violating NCAA rules from his/her position. However, according to Glick, the NCAA does not require an institution to remove an athlletic director caught violating NCAA rules (i.e. lying and cheating).
Now why would Glick feel compelled to make such a statement to the Regents in the midst of an ongoing NCAA investigation at his institution? Hmmmm......
Do you find it disturbing that Glick is only concerned with what the NCAA can and cannot enforce?
Glick knows that his Athletic Director Cary Groth lies and covers up NCAA violations, clearly violating NCAA rules. However, as long as the NCAA will not require him to remove his corrupt athletic director from her position he will continue to employ her and even extend her contract!
Groth and Glick are making a public mockery out of the NCAA and the pillars on which it stands: Honesty, Integrity, Ethical Conduct, and Moral Values. NCAA Bylaws 10, 11, and 19.
