The Pot Calling The Kettle Black

Since Nevada Athletics was put on probation for major NCAA rules violations under Athletic Director Cary Groth's leadership, Groth has been publicly calling Rich Merritt a "rogue coach" in the print and TV media.

Groth knew of Merritt's numerous violations in August 2007.  She knew he was a "rogue coach" then.

Yet Groth supported her rule-violating coach in a March 11, 2008 article:

"Rich Merritt is still our golf coach," Groth said. "He paid his penalty, paid his dues and he served it.
"

This statement was made by Groth in the middle of the NCAA’s investigation into Merritt's misconduct and after the coach was already charged with numerous NCAA violations, including Unethical Conduct.

Despite all of this Groth vehemently supported him; consistent with her history of supporting NCAA rule violators and
placing her institutions under scrutiny of the NCAA.

Groth only dismissed her "friend" Merritt after the heat got too high.  Now she is throwing him to the wolves, acting as if his misconduct was unknown to her.

"Rogue" A.D. Groth's own misconduct, including criminal and NCAA violations, are
detailed here.

Groth calling Merritt "rogue" is the ultimate in hypocrisy and "the pot calling the kettle black".
