Failing The University In Their Positions Of Leadership
There is a lot going on right now around the country in regards to conference realignment with different universities. The Reno Gazette Journal ran a pretty thorough section on Nevada's place in it all.
In one article the writer called out Nevada Athletic Director Cary Groth and President Milton Glick for their failure to be proactive on behalf of the university.
Both Groth and Glick admitted that neither one of them have contacted the Mountain West Conference Commissioner to let them know of their interest. Not one phone call!
C'mon? Really? What exactly is it that these people do in their jobs?
It is the responsibility of an athletic director and president to grow the university and put it in the best position academically and athletically.
Conference affiliation can have a tremendous effect on the academic prestige of an institution.
Would it be too much to ask Cary Groth to spend less time shopping at TJ MAX in the middle of the work day so she can lead the department and university to a better future?
Groth has been spotted shopping around 2 pm on a weekday. It happened to be at the same time the baseball team was playing a home game. Her time should be spent supporting the programs she is supposed to be leading and propelling the university forward.
Groth apparently knew her actions were less than noble as she is alleged to have darted out of the store immediately upon being identified.
Perhaps her admin. assistant can check and see if Groth is taking leave time for her shopping sprees.
