UNR Lawyers Make A Mockery Out Of Their Witnesses
One of the UNR lawyer "games" is to try to intimidate the coach by listing student-athletes as witnesses.
The lawyers tried hard to find an athlete to say bad things about her under oath. It didn't work.
In the end, the lawyers only put one of their alleged student-athlete witnesses through a deposition.
When we showed up for the deposition the student-athlete was not there. It turns out they had her on the telephone. Since a telephonic deposition is unusablevwe walked out, declining to participate.
What is really sad about this situation though is that the student-athlete's mom had sent the coach two letters while she played for her. The letters warned the coach about her daughter's penchant for lying.
The coach had saved these letters and subsequently produced them to the UNR lawyers well in advance of this deposition. The lawyers knew we had her own mothers words to impeach the student-athletes credibility.
We are confident that the lawyers did not tell the student-athlete that we had produced these letters from her mother. We doubt the she even knew her mother sent them to the coach. So the lawyers "used" this naive young lady to try to harass and intimidate the coach. Sound familiar?
The lawyers, clearly embarrassed that we refused to participate in their unusable deposition, proceeded with it anyway after we left. We suppose they wanted to conceal their embarrassing gaffe from the student.
Weeks later, we read a copy of the deposition and started laughing. She lied on the very first question.
The lawyers picked up on the lie right away knowing it was a physical impossibility. They tried to get her to correct herself, explaining that her statement was not possible. She ignored them and reiterated the lie.
The lawyers stumbled through the rest of the deposition knowing she was not credible. Even better...as hard as they tried to get her to hurt the coach, they failed.
Once again, the UNR lawyers made a mockery out of their own witness, a young student-athlete, revealing just how low their moral compass truly is.
