A.D. Groth On DUI's: OK For Coaches, Athletes Punished

The RGJ is reporting today that a Nevada football player was charged with a DUI on Friday.

The football coach suspended him from two games this season and revoked 50% of his scholarship.

Certainly this is a necessary consequence to a very serious offense.

We could not ignore, however, the bizarre fact that the Nevada Head Ski Coach, who was recently convicted of a DUI (after leaving the strip club, "Fantasy Girls"), was not disciplined by Athletic Director Cary Groth.

Even more disturbing ... we have secured records from the athletic department that show that Groth spent thousands of dollars in university money to make arrangements to accommodate for the coach's DUI.

Shouldn't coaches be held to higher standards than the student-athletes?

As noted below, the athletic director at the University of Georgia was immediately dismissed for a DUI this summer.  He was not supported and given extra funds to accommodate for his DUI.

Then again, A.D. Groth has proven over and over again that she is clearly lacking in ethical standards.

Any expectation of leadership from Groth left the station years ago.
