A.D. Cary Groth Puts Her Foot In Mouth . . . Again

We posted two weeks ago that Nevada Athletic Director Cary Groth announce that a national search for a new head volleyball coach will start after the upcoming season - "due to budget constraints".

This means that Groth is going to wait at least 10 months to hire a head coach for the volleyball team.  That is not only absurd, it is unheard of.

It gets better . . . a few days after Groth makes this public statement she posts
this job opening for an assistant football coach:

________________________________________________________________
Assistant Coach, Football     Administrative Faculty     *President's Office     Intercollegiate Athletics

Assists the Assistant Head Football Coach and the Head Football Coach in all aspects of a competitive Division IA program. This position is responsible for practice and game coaching, the recruitment and retention of student-athletes, scheduling, team travel, and academic integrity.

We thought Groth could not afford to hire a head coach?!  But she can afford to hire an assistant coach?  Psst...the salaries for the two positions are nearly equal.

Groth's foolish public admission now goes beyond her incompetence as a fundraiser . . . her actions have proven that she does not care about the volleyball program and its student-athletes.
