UNR's Jane Tors Has Lied To The Media Before
The spin-machine is at it again . . .
The university sent out a press release this week announcing $26 million in proposed cuts. They also announced that 150 faculty and staff are projected to lose their jobs.
Of course this was a transparently timed press release to get the legislature's attention while they are currently in session.
It is also designed to send the community and campus into hysterics to put pressure on the governor who has proposed more cuts to higher education.
As noted in the post below, the university is guilty of hyperbole. Read the sensationalistic quotes by the president and provost to see what we mean.
But the most curious part about the release is that UNR claims they will have to lay off 150 employees . . . yet, UNR currently is hiring for 40 positions on campus. Hmmmmm....go figure.
It sounds like this press release is a tad bit misleading. Then again, Jane Tors, whose name is on the release, has lied to the media before.
