Nevada Athletic Director Cary Groth's Report Card: "F"

Thanks to the person(s) who did the work and sent this email:

The Learfield Sports Directors’ Cup, the annual score card for overall on-field success of Division I athletics programs, released the 2010-2011 standings.

The numbers do not lie.  Nevada is on a downward spiral of epic proportions under Cary Groth.

Out of 279 Division I programs, the Wolf Pack finished an embarrassing 190.  How did Nevada's peer institutions do this year?

2010-11                    2009-10                    2008-09                   2007-08

Boise - 83               Boise - 60               Boise - 49              Fresno - 63
Fresno - 87             Fresno - 78             Fresno - 78            Boise - 77
UNLV - 101             Nevada - 169           Nevada - 106          Nevada - 103
Sac State - 119
NAU - 133
Montana State - 134
Hawaii - 136
E Washington - 150
Portland State - 185
San Jose - 188
Nevada - 190

That would be 5 Big Sky programs that finished ahead of Nevada...[And] the trend is not her friend.

The proof is in the pudding.  Groth has failed.  Any employee with this performance record would be terminated.  All but two current head coaches (baseball and football) have been hired by Groth.

Add in Groth's corruption, the NCAA probation, her fundraising deficiencies, the football scheduling debacle, and the $1.5 million budget deficit (she has led the department to budget deficits 5 out of 7 years).

It is long over due for President Johnson to act in the best interest of the university, tax payers, student athletes, and donors.
