Whittemore Story: FBI Grand Jury Subpoenas Served

According to this story in the Las Vegas Review Journal, two dozen FBI agents served grand jury subpoenas today in a criminal investigation into allegations that Harvey Whittemore was involved in funneling illegal campaign contributions to federal races in Nevada.

Whittemore is long time friends with U.S. Senator Harry Reid of Nevada.  Reid's son Leif is Harvey's personal attorney.

This criminal investigation may explain why Leif Reid is not representing Whittemore in Whittemore's civil litigation detailed below.

Just a hunch that Leif will not be representing Whittemore on criminal charges either if he is indicted by the grand jury.

The FBI served subpoenas on Whittemore business associates and others in some 30 locations in Northern and Southern Nevada, according to the LVRJ.

One of those businesses visited by the FBI is located on the University of Nevada, Reno campus, the Whittemore Peterson Institute, a research facility created by the Whittemore's that focuses on neuro-immune diseases.

Federal prosecutors expect to present evidence in the investigation to a federal grand jury in Reno at the end of the month, according to the LVRJ.
